We believe that university counselling should have a student-centred approach. Our role in supporting your child is to help them plan a journey and find schools or a path that is the best fit for them, while keeping in mind that each student is unique. Our University Admissions program focuses on self-discovery, course planning, post-secondary research, the university and scholarship application process, and career research to ensure that students make informed choices about their post-secondary education. Our goal is to provide students with a tool kit that they can use long after the university application process and our alums share with us that they are prepared for their programs and enjoy their first year.
We are proud that 100% of our graduates receive an offer of admission to four-year programs at some of the most renowned universities, such as Stanford, St. Andrews, McGill, and UBC. Our graduates have also been recipients of major entrance scholarships at Cambridge, Stanford, Cornell, Western, and UBC, as well as national scholarships, such as the Loran Award, the Schulich Leader Scholarship, and the TD Scholarship for Community Leadership have also been awarded to past graduates.
YHS students are admitted to a wide range of post-secondary academic programs including Architecture, Business and Commerce, Arts, Design, Engineering, Fashion, Science, as well as to direct entry programs for Medicine and Law in the UK. Additionally, students have gained acceptance to highly selective specialized programs such as the Sauder School of Business at UBC and the Ivey Business School at Western University.
A resource centre, university liaison visits, admissions testing, essay and interview preparation workshops, and individual counselling with full-time post-secondary counsellors are some of the tools we use to deliver our program. University personnel are invited to speak to graduates about the transition to university and York House alums often return to the school to provide insights from their university experience.
We commend our alums for pursuing degrees at a diverse range of institutions across North America and abroad and for all their unique achievements as they pursue further education or embark upon their chosen careers following their undergraduate degree. Through regular contact with our alums, we continue to hear their fabulous stories of success; our alums are living happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives.
